I don't know why, I don't drink and can't even remember the last time I walked into a bar. To be honest, I'm only watching this because since I retired my life lacks conflict. Bar expert John Taffer is rather abrasive and yells a lot -- he thinks he yells only for a good purpose, but at times his alpha male routine only puts the bar owners he comes to "rescue" on the defensive. It amazes me how there are owners who are months away from being out of business, Taffer with all of his expertise comes in, willing to help. Where your eyes meet on a menu therefore you have to use science in how you put your menu together.

It is so interesting to watch and learn, and have a lot of fun watching the transition from a really bad bar to the high end product that John produces. Enjoy seeing the before, during and the finished product. But it seems there is so much more that goes into making a bar really successful than even a restaurant. I never knew that there was so much math and especially science that went into this particular business. Semi-scripted, but still a great show that helps people who need it to save their business. I also enjoy the reality of how dumb and lazy people can be and the rude awakening and much needed reality check some of them get. Rowdy owners and stonewalling city officials are all lurking right under the hood. Yet these people are reluctant to listen to him and fight him thinking they know what is best for their bar. I like how you get to see "behind the scenes" in the bar/restaurant business.
