Still behind 4KQ etc. The rest of the programming is provided by Sydney sister-station 2GB.Karl Stefanovic is filling in on 2GB's drive program for regular host Ben Fordham, who is expected to resume his show after the September school holidays.Macquarie Media, which runs 4BC and 2GB, declined to comment directly on Wednesday, referring to Braybrook’s on-air comments.However, Braybrook indicated he might stay on in some capacity with the network, possibly on its sports station Macquarie Sports, which broadcasts in Brisbane on the old 4BH 882 frequency.“I have built my career around sport and as well as hosting drive, have appeared on our sister station Maquarie Sports Radio since its inception,” he said.“I don’t know where my future lies, but I am missing being involved in sport.”2GB and 4BC are both part-owned by Nine, the owner of this masthead.Braybrook has held a number of roles at 4BC over the past few years, including news director and program director.He took over as drive presenter from Ben Davis last year, with Davis returning to his role as a reporter with Channel Seven.Davis had been the only survivor of the clearing of the decks at 4BC in 2015, when management ditched all Brisbane-based programming except for the three-hour drive show, in favour of 2GB’s program content.That included Alan Jones’ breakfast show and the morning show presented by Ray Hadley, as well as nights, overnights and weekend programs.News content has always been produced out of the 4BC newsroom at the Cannon Hill studios and there has been no mention that those services would change.It’s not clear if Macquarie’s licence to broadcast on 4BC contains any conditions around local content quotas, and whether those would be filled by retaining the local newsroom.The Brisbane station has struggled in the ratings, regularly trailing other stations including AM music station 4KQ, which targets a similar demographic.In the most recent ratings survey, the Brisbane drive show rated 3.8, down from a 4.4 in the previous survey, compared with the top-rated Nova 106.9 on 15.7 and 4KQ’s drive show on 6.6.Stuart Layt covers health, science and technology for the Brisbane Times.
