The Air District issues a daily air quality forecast that predicts air pollution levels for the coming five-day period.
Wood burning is banned. Air quality levels were in the orange “unhealthy for sensitive groups” range in the mid-Peninsula area and in the East Bay. Burn bans can occur year-round for wildfires. Fire department officials advise there is no need to evacuate at this time. Many of these fires are only allowed during specified periods - or burn seasons - throughout the year.The Air District issues a daily air quality forecast that predicts air pollution levels for the coming five-day period. Smoke from open burning contains very fine particles, gases, and other toxic chemicals that can be inhaled deeply into the lungs.To minimize its adverse smoke impacts on public health, open burning is generally prohibited in the Bay Area - with the exception of 17 types of fires that are regulated under the Air District's Open Burning Regulation 5.
