Rescue Me returns to Lovett, Texas, population 10,000, and pairs former Navy SEAL Vince Haven, who’s the brother of Autumn from Any Man of Mine, and Sadie Hollowell. I just read "Any Man of Mine" to get more info. I've been there for each and every one of Gibson's once-a-year books. Though I do truly feel this one could be part one of two as hot blooded as both of these characters are.When I pick up this book Rescue Me I didn't know it was part of a series, but I really enjoyed it. The ending felt rushed and I'm not 100% sure I believe in the HEA. It was sweet, steamy and emotional. A really good romance and overall story. And then when you could tie things all up and answer some of my questions with a nice juicy epilogue...I get Rachel Gibson, why do you always fall just short of perfect for me? This isn't quite like the books Ms. Gibson wrote before her sports series. It just seemed like most of the revealing of their characters was done independently, and I wanted a bit more of them actually together. However as a now 30yr old mom,who grew-up in the south, and have known a few Naval men I thought the book was a great read (or in my case, a great audiobook to listen to on long drives). And the whole town wants to fix her up with anyone with a dental plan... She’s 33, unmarried, and stuffed into a Bubble Yum pink bridesmaid dress.
The humor from those books wasn't so evident here.

I love Rachel Gibson's writing style. Even the side stories, that have nothing to do with the romance or introducing new characters, were well-done without feeling like they were taking away from the romance. She was smart, strong and independent and I loved that because she felt like a very authentic version of a current 30-something woman.
Forced by familial obligations to stand up in a wedding she plans on driving in and driving right back out ASAP.
[Both Sadie and Vince are brought to Texas and both extend their stays not to be with each other, but because of other matters. Welcome back. While I enjoyed much of it, it doesn't rank up there with my favorites by her. Her early books, like the ones set in Truly, Idaho always made me laugh out loud. I love Texan style love story! Maybe that I've waited for you all my life.”“Stay away from me so I don't feel anything for you anymore.” on Vince and his family and I realized that Rachel strings a reader along by connecting her books.

My only complaint is I wanted more from Sadie and Vince: I wanted to know if they stayed together, if he took her to his sister's wedding, if he learned to rope cattle. The humor from those books wasn't so evident here. One of the draws for me is the humor that is embedded along with the romance. When not writing, you can usually find Rachel with her '56 T-Bird at Classic Car shows where she kicks butt, takes names, and thinks she Suzanne Summers in American Graffiti. Fool me twice, shame on me.Fool me once, shame on you. I loved all Bless Your Hearts! on Vince and his family and I realized thaFirst off this is book is not exactly for the modest.
