The only good thing that I got from this book is that fathers need to be more involved with their sons. I found the range of reviews on this book fascinating. But the suggestions are so impractical and non-concrete that I gave up halfway for lack of any apparent benefit to continuting. I read this alongside his older "The Minds of Boys" book. What follows is not a concise summary or review of the book, but key points and takeaways.Not organized in a way that would allow you to skim through it.

I had a few take aways that will help, but I had to read through a lot to get there. What it did tell me is that I understand precious little about boys and men. Boys are a Wonder and they are WONDERFUL! New book. Secondly this assumes that evolution stopped millions of years ago and is now a static process. A personal relationship with frequent communication is vital for fathers and sons. That's when I had to stop. The Wonder of Boys offers advice on how to understand and build strong father/son and mother/son relationships, stresses the importance of healthy discipline, and suggests methods of teaching boys about sex, relationships, and spirituality.
Just too much psychobabble for me. As a boy mom, I want things that I can actually do to raise my kids well and build strong relationships with them, and I haven't found that in this book so far. I really wanted to like this book, and I think it starts out with good intentions.
